The beat is well and truly back in Bradford

We’ve teamed up with Birmingham’s NEC Group (the guys who run the likes of the National Exhibition Centre, Arena Birmingham and Resorts World Arena) to deliver a sneaky preview of the new Bradford Live venue to all the big hitters in the city.

But, before we get stuck into things, we want to make sure that you’re fully up to date with all things Bradford Live, so, to ensure you don’t miss a beat, take two seconds to sign up here and we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the new home of live music and big events.

Right, back to your brand new venue. With demolition work well underway at the former Bradford Odeon, we held our launch event over at the National Museum of Science and Media, and the excitement went through the roof…not literally, thankfully…but councillors, local businesses and community leaders were buzzing to get an exclusive look at what to expect from Bradford Live.

During the initial renovation phase, we’ve unearthed some absolute gems in terms of original building features which were hidden by the cinema shell which was installed in the 1960’s. It’s the first time in over 40 years that we’ve seen the fantastic art deco inspired structures which were used when the building was constructed way back in the 1930’s– and those original features are something we’re keen on incorporating into our restoration works ahead of the grand re-opening in 2020/2021…it’s going to look amazing!

We’re transforming the building, both inside and out, to deliver a brand new all singing, all dancing venue in the heart of our vibrant city. We’ll take all the beauty of the original 1930’s ballroom into our versatile conferencing and banqueting suite, plus, the original features from the auditorium will be fused into the new 4,000 capacity home of hot gigs, big shows and the best live events!

Okay, we know you’re chomping at the bit for this so let’s talk grub. Our food offering within the venue will reflect the many beautiful cultures we have pumping through Bradford which makes our city so great – we’re talking a la carte dining through to street food, vegan to halal, we’ll be catering to suit everyone who walks through our doors. Amplify, the NEC Group’s hospitality provider, will be the lovely people behind the magic of our VIP offering for those extra special occasions…they’re doing an awesome job in Birmingham and we can’t wait for the guys to bring their stylish experiences here to Bradford Live.

Speaking at last week’s event Phil Mead, NEC Group Chairman for the Group’s arenas and ticketing company said: “We really want to put Bradford back on the map for major touring artists. The venue has seen legends play there, such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and I’ve no doubt that we’ll see legends play there again. We are in preliminary talks with a number of promoters and event organisers to discuss the opening season and will announce this as our plans progress next year and construction dates are finalised." How excited does that sound!

He went on to say: “We’d like to encourage everyone in the Bradford area and beyond to start to share our enthusiasm for Bradford Live.”
